Band of Brothers News!
Band of Brothers News for July
Recent Changes
The Band of Brothers has turned a corner in its history, having recently undergone a number of significant changes. Last fall, Chris Preston joined the band and has settled in as a second singer, keyboardist and guitarist. Our good friend John Adams has joined us as a kind of sixth member, working behind the scenes to get the band out where we can be heard and heard of. We've got ourselves a new site and updated the photos of the band.
Longtime members Ed Fritz (keyboards) and Matty Z (mandolin, guitar) have moved on to pursue other projects. Though we were sorry to see a couple of members go, their exodus seems to have given rise to a much more consistent schedule of shows as well as a greater unity in the core of the band. The shows are becoming more successful, since support for the band has never been greater. (The owner of a venue we played recently on a disgusting June evening told us that it was best night he'd had in months, and he typically books "veteran" acts.) It's a very exciting time and we're very grateful.
The Family
We started out by playing Brian's songs simply because we believed in what we were doing. Soon we started to find other people who believed in it too. We've met hundreds of these great people and we're proud to call them "the family." The way we see it, you don't "sign our e-mail list." You join the family and become an important part of the Band of Brothers institution. If you come to see the Band of Brothers, please come up, tell us who you are and join the family. (We've even been known to give out free stuff.) And don't forget to tell your friends either!
The Music
The Band of Brothers has been promoting the "Worse For Wear" album for a while, but in the process has perfected a good number of favorites from Brian's extensive back catalog. On upcoming dates, we're being asked to play extra sets, so listen for even more classic tunes and some long-awaited new Brian Fitzpatrick songs in the inimitable Band of Brothers style! Keep your eye on the schedule. We're probably playing somewhere near you this summer.
